ROGER WOODWARD belongs to the highest echelon of classical musicians, his immense repertoire embracing traditional and contemporary works. Born in Sydney he rose to international prominence in a series of collaborations with Messiaen, Boulez, Barraqué, Xenakis, Stockhausen, Cage, Feldman, Takemitsu, Pärt, while championing Australians: Meale, Edwards, Boyd, Conyngham, Sitsky. His recordings have won wide critical acclaim and numerous awards, including the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik for his Bach performances; as well as the Diapason d’or, France; and Ritmo prize, Spain.
Roger is a Companion of the Order of Australia, was designated a National Treasure by Australia’s National Trust, awarded Chevalier dans l’ordre des arts et des lettres; is recipient of the Polish Order of Merit, Polish Gloria Artis (gold class) and of the Order of the British Empire.
