Daniel Cueto is a Peruvian composer, flutist and educator. Born in Lima in 1986, he began his musical training by learning to play various Peruvian instruments such as the cajón, the quena and the siku. At age 13, he began to study the flute. After appearing as a soloist with the National Peruvian Symphony and completing preparatory studies at the National Conservatory, he moved to Germany in 2006 to study Flute Performance at the Robert-Schumann University in Düsseldorf, obtaining his Diplom in 2011. His extensive experience during that time as a performer of new works, working closely with composition students from all corners of the world, and premiering little-known Peruvian compositions in several European countries, started to deepen a desire to write his own music. One of his first compositions, PRISMA, was published by Miguel Harth-Bedoya´s Filarmonika in 2011; it was later described as an “especially successful” and “innovative” solo work by the Flöte Aktuell journal in Germ
