Helena Hettema is an award-winning cabaret artist, actress, songwriter and voice-over artist. She has been nominated for two SAMAs (SA Music Awards): one for Highlights in 1998 and for the DVD Alive in 2010. Other awards are: nominations for FNB Vita awards, the SABC 2 Geraas (GMT) Award for the best solo female vocalist and for the Vonk Awards (female), was second to Laurika Rauch for the CD Divided Heart.. She was also nominated for a Checkers Shoprite Award in the Arts Category Helena received a Laureate Award from her alma mater, the University of Pretoria for her contribution to the arts. After obtaining a BA Drama degree from UP, the joined PACT and worked with the likes of Cobus Rossouw, Elize Cawood and Brumilda van Rensburg. She portrayed the role of Alma Mahler in KINDERTOTENLIEDER with Jana Cilliers and Jonathan Rands. Helena performed with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra twice singing Piaf and Brel. She has written and performed various television series theme songs. He
