The Space Suit Art Project is a collaboration between the NASA Johnson Space Center's Engineering Directorate, ILC Dover, The International Space Station, and children in hospitals around the world fighting cancer and creating inspirational art.
Hope
Hope is a very powerful medicine in and of itself. The Space Suit Projects allows children fighting cancer a creative outlet during their treatment to help create a replica Space Suit.
Arts in Medicine
Creative arts therapy is based on the idea that the creative act can be healing. According to therapists, it can help people express hidden emotions, and reduce stress, fear, and anxiety. Many cancer patients and survivors use creative arts therapies including music, art, dance, drama, and writing to help manage the emotional and psychological side effects that often result from cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Research in Space
Research performed on the International Space Station play important roles in understanding the disease.
