Ian Moran is the creative force behind MurderDrone, a progressive metal project rooted in the Hudson Valley of New York. Originally from Poughkeepsie and currently based in Stone Ridge, Moran writes, performs, records, and produces all music himself from MurderDrone Studios. Guided by the ethos “Music for the Damned,” MurderDrone delivers a sound that is equal parts technical, aggressive, and immersive. Blending modern extreme metal with classic progressive and hard rock influences, MurderDrone draws inspiration from Dream Theater, Lamb of God, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Contortionist and Decapitated, while also channeling the foundational energy of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy and Rush. The result is a dynamic fusion of melodic passages, crushing breakdowns, groove-heavy riffs, two-step sections, and intricate rhythmic structures.
