At SAOS we work with food and farming businesses to make them more profitable, competitive and sustainable. Established in 1905, SAOS was initially formed as a Society to further co-operation in Scottish agricultural organisations (our full name is the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society - but that's very 1905 and not that easy to say/remember, so we tend to stick with just SAOS!) Well over a hundred years later, co-ops remain key to SAOS’s work, but our remit has expanded to explore and convert wider opportunities in food and drink supply chains, technology, innovation, data and climate change response. SAOS is a co-op, owned by around 60 member co-operatives with a collective turnover of around £1.5 billion. Through this channel we'll share some of our own work as well as that of our member co-ops.
