Enya is a phonetic approximation derived from the Irish Gaelic pronunciation of the singer's real name, Eithne ([ˈɛnʲə]); the full name in Gaelic, Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin, corresponds to the English Enya O 'Brennan, or "daughter of Brennan". Behind her musical figure, a trio actually rotates composed of the singer herself, who composes the music, plays and sings, Nicky Ryan, producer and arranger, and Roma Ryan, who writes the lyrics in different languages. Over the course of her career, Enya has sold more than 80 million albums and is the most successful Irish solo singer in the world, and the most important musical phenomenon in her country after U2.
