“If a nation expects to be ignorant & free... it expects what never was & never will be.” -- Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey (January 6, 1816)
One of my favorite quotes, that sentiment sums up why I entered the classroom 17 years ago and why I feel drawn to create this channel. Knowledge is power, especially with democracy: we can't safeguard the rights we hold if we don't appreciate how we won them. We can't fight for the rights not yet won -- or embody the change we hope to achieve -- if we don't learn how the protests and patriots of the past prevailed (and more importantly, how they failed).
My duty isn't to teach what's right, but to teach what happened so what's right WILL happen.
This channel will feature content from both American and World History; while I'm more old school in enjoying military and political topics, social history is a critical component in our heritage helping make our present more the future we want to see than the past we hope to leave behind.
