Darren Culliney is a Irish Traditional Musician and Composer from Ballinamuck, Co. Longford. He grew up surrounded by music and began learning the tin whistle at age 5. At the age of 9, he developed an interest in the button accordion and has since become his main instrument of focus. Darren is a proud lilter, having won numerous medals at Fleadh Cheoil throughout the years. He has recently begun learning piano and melodeon.
Darren most recently completed the Bachelor's of Music Degree (BMus) at Maynooth University, and is currently completing a Master's in Music Composition in Maynooth, where he is focusing on writing contemporary classical music.
Darren has composed numerous trad tunes throughout the years, his first being composed at just 8 years old. He is constantly composing, focusing on traditional Irish and contemporary classical music.
Darren is an active performer, having performed at festivals and sessions across the island of Ireland and throughout Europe.
