Stanlic was born on 10 September 1973 in Chivi, Masvingo, and was raised in Triangle and flourished in Harare, Zimbabwe. Stanlic collaborates closely with his young brother, Edgar Mutemererwa, and Rev. Dr Titus Murefu, under the name "Stanlic Mutemererwa & The Gospel Trumpet Zimbabwe Music." He rose to national fame in Zimbabwe during the late 1990s.
