Created during the summer of 2011 by Matt Potts to fill the void left after leaving Northern Illinois University and realizing that there were little to no opportunities to play in a steelpan ensemble, Potts and Pans is devoted to allowing pannists the opportunity to continue growing. Being just a part of the larger not-for-profit Potts & Pans organization, the steelband helps bring more attention and draws interest to the organization. The organization as a whole is about spreading pan knowledge and educating communities about the steelpan.
