The Cost Code

A $100 polo costs $12 to make. A $400 suit costs $45. A $1,200 luxury loafer costs $75. The other 80 to 95 percent is not fabric. It is a logo, a marketing budget, and a markup nobody bothered to show you. The Cost Code breaks down mens and womenswear brand by brand. We trace the factory. We weigh the fabric. We read the construction. We name the markup multiplier — and the brands that earn it, and the brands that do not. Every video is a ranking. Every ranking is built on numbers: fabric weight, fiber blend, country of origin, ownership history, retail price, and production cost. The label tells you what the brand wants you to think it sells. The cost code tells you what you are actually buying.
