The Saratoga Community Band (SCB) has been performing for audiences since 1989, when the band was formed by our founder Craig Northrup. The band includes musicians ranging in age from 16 to 80+. Our current director, Steve Barnhill, took the reins in 2024. Mr. Barnhill retired in 2019 after 35 years of teaching, first at Overfelt High School and then Evergreen Valley High School. In addition to the school programs, Mr. Barnhill was firstly the brass caption lead and then director of the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps from 2007-2019, helping to guide the group to 5 Open Class National Championships. SCB rehearses weekly during the school year at Saratoga High School in Saratoga, CA, and is open to all interested brass, woodwind and percussion players.
