Mausiki Scales, an adjunct instructor in the African American Studies Department at Georgia State University, has taught history & African Studies for more than 15 years in Atlanta area colleges. Scales has a multitude of interests which include Nile Valley Civilizations, West African history & culture, the Jim Crow era, Afrobeat, Blues & Jazz.
Scales’ distinctive resume not only includes accolades as a published author, but also highlights his achievement thw faculty advisor to student organizations. Scales’ talents & desire for knowledge has afforded him the opportunity to travel to various regions in America and abroad where he has served as a guest speaker or headline musician. His travels to Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil, & Japan have cultivated his continued interest in a diversified worldview.
Scales has been awarded two “Teacher of the Year” awards, in 1998 & 2010 from Morris Brown College
