SPeCTr is an NIH grant awarded to University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC, @KUMedCenter) for participation as the Kansas arm of the ECHO ISPCTN (Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network). SPeCTr Principal Investigator is Ann Davis, PhD and MPI is Bridgette Jones, MD.
ECHO ISPCTN is made up of research sites in 18 states and helps address disparities in pediatric research. To this end, the network aims include enhancing pediatric clinical trial access at state and national levels and carrying out well-designed clinical trials in children. The network has the following goals:
1. Provide medically underserved and rural populations with access to state-of-the-art clinical trials in the ECHO's five areas of child health.
2. Build the national capacity to conduct pediatric clinical trials by providing professional development, team support and infrastructure building for ECHO researchers and other research faculty outside of ECHO.
