OneWhale.org was founded by film director, Regina Crosby Haug, after she documented Hvaldimir & witnessed his need for protection. She gathered experts & followers from across the globe who care about him to form a team of activists, creating a reliable source of information, protection & advocacy for Hvaldimir. Our mission is to protect one whale, Hvaldimir, and in the process change the lives of many formerly captive whales like him. We work on-site daily to ensure his safety & survival. We also believe he deserves to live free with his own kind. So, we are creating a solution for him & other formerly captive whales in need of a natural safe-haven.The 1st whale reserve of its kind will be built in Hammerfest to offer refuge, rehabilitation & ultimate release to a wild beluga population.
