Ireland-born, Spain-based artist Níall (nee-ull) creates atmospheric electronic music as NiElsir. Growing up in a musical home in the ’90s, he played drums (mostly jazz) and “banged away” on the family piano before discovering computer music production in 2004. His early experiments and obsession with music led to radio DJ sets, his first club residency, and a deep immersion in music by age 16. After nearly a decade in engineering he left his position in London and moved to Spain, sparking his return to full-time music in 2020. Since then, he has been building and shaping a sound defined by patience and intention, apparent in his soundscapes and melodies. In 2022, his debut album Contraflow Continuum was released on the US label Stratford Ct. NiElsir’s writing is slow, long stretches of experimentation often precede the moment when an idea eventually carries enough emotion for him to commit to finishing the song. Each track channels that effort into a unique chillwave sound.
