Jojo Records aspires to connect the heritage of jazz with modern-day, cutting-edge sounds.
Our artists are versatile and vary in style, yet they share a love for swing, strong expressions of freedom and beauty, and at the same time, a rebelling sound and strong conflict. You can hear influences of West African music, Mardi Gras Indians, Moroccan music, and Afro-Cuban rhythms, all intertwined with bebop jazz.
Founder Simon Belelty named the label after his father, Jojo Belelty, who was the head of a large family of musicians and artists and a source of inspiration to many. Jojo passed away in 2014, but he left a rich legacy of artistic philosophy, a love for music, an improvisational approach, and a love for life. Our label’s goal is to create and release music that will spread these values around the world.
We currently work and record in Luxembourg, Paris and New York.
