The Midlands is a region at the heart of Ireland, encompassing the counties of Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath. Midlands Ireland promotes the region as a place to live, work, study, visit and invest. Midlands Ireland is a partnership of the 4 local authorities of Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath and is part of the Midlands Regional Enterprise Plan Pathway for Just Transition Programme, which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund Programme 2021-2027. Midlands Ireland recognises the individual strengths of each county, and how these come together to build a region that is dynamic, progressive and vibrant, centrally located in the heart of Ireland. The collaborative approach in promoting the region, gives the region a stronger competitive advantage, creates a distinct identity on a global scale, and serves to attract and retain population and investment and to support regional tourism.
