theKI (pronounced 'the-key') was formed by singer Roxie Sakura & bassist/producer Lucas Francis. theKI fuses rock, neo-soul & funk. theKI's self-titled debut album 'theKI' was officially released September 15th, 2015. The title & concept behind theKI album refers to the Japanese term for the oneness of all life, 'Ki'. This theme of connection is explored throughout the album & features a collective of LA musicians united for change. theKI received $25K in Kickstarter crowd-funding. Mixed & mastered at Capitol Records. theKI performs for many humanitarian benefits & awareness events, including as headliners for Eve Ensler's One Billion Rising event in Los Angeles hosted by the UN Women. In 2015 theKI received a certificate of recognition from the City of Los Angeles for their outreach efforts in 'changing the lives of many'.
