The Historic Urbani Bocci's Cellar is the oldest operating restaurant/bar/venue in Santa Cruz, California. Originally a boarding house for railroad workers and the tannery hide company. During the Civil War it was housing immigrants, powder mine workers and soldiers. A magnolia tree was planted at the base of the property some years before to mark the end of the Chinese workers that perished while building the railroad tracks that still remain to this day. In 1910 an Italian family arrived in Santa Cruz Guiseppe was 16 with 2 kids and one on the way. The family who was living at the wharf at the time purchased the house and began the history of Urbani family restaurant in 1910. Today it stands as a staple of the Santa Cruz community and continues as Urbani Bocci's Cellar music venue and pub. It survived the 1918 global pandemic and currently trying to survive the 2019 global pandemic. Help save this historic location from a plan to have it bulldozed and wiped from history.
