The Appalachian Equality Chorus uses our voices, strengths, and individual gifts to create enriching musical experiences that promote inclusion, equality, and empathy. We strive to end hostility toward minority populations and to better our world through community partnerships. The group was founded in 2012 as the Knoxville Gay Men's Chorus, and changed in 2023 to AppEC! Membership now includes over 80 singers from throughout the greater Appalachian region, with rehearsal groups in Knoxville and Johnson City. We envision a world free of discrimination in which all persons are empowered to live authentic lives true to their identities, without fear.
