"Through my toughest period, came the realisation of the importance to create," says Walter Kocays, the Manchester-based, Stoke-born Alternative-Folk artist.
Influenced by artists such as John Martyn, Kae Tempest, Stephen Fretwell and James Blake, whilst often accompanied in a live capacity by violin, keys and bass, Kocays fronts an amalgamation of power, hypnotism and melancholy covering themes of personal struggle, love and society.
Since the dawning of the project, Kocays persists to hone his niche whilst making notable performances alongside the likes of Cast and The La's John Power, Gomez's Ben Ottewell, Starsailor's James Walsh, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, The Scratch, Luke De-Sciscio, Tom Hingley (ex Inspiral Carpets) and Judy Blank.
Most recently, Kocays made his debut at Glastonbury Festival, performing at Worthy Farm's Hive stage. "It was an incredible experience that I'll never forget, and one that I aim to build upon," hey says.
