Well, I will confess that I tried to get out of writing this. I said, "Look, just because I know a lot of the people involved doesn't mean I should write your liner notes, or commentary, or whatever you want to call it. I'm a damn writer. What's the matter-- can't you get a musician to do it? Find a trombone player." But I guess there wasn't enough money in the budget, or somebody knew that I was real soft on Slim, so here are the notes. I'm sure I have made some mistakes. If so, blame the fact-checkers, not me.
