Video Explosion originated as a Hip Hop/R&B/Soul/Reggae and Pop video program. The program debuted in Queens, NY in 1991. Produced and directed by Haywood "Hollywood" Oakman, a native of Queens, NY. The program was shot in all boroughs of NYC, and New Jersey. The crew also traveled around the country and overseas to interview artists at industry parties, seminars, and music showcases. Interviews and segments were hosted by Patrick Ferreol, Kyle Lilly, Byron Patterson, Asonya Johnson Oakman, and Adeleke Adekanmbi.
Video Explosion over the last couple of years has been evolving. Interviews have been conducted with ministers, authors, athletes, actors, poets, comedians, and public servants uplifting the community.
