From San Francisco, popular 80's band DAS BLOK. Their popularity on KUSF and other college radio stations gave the band a strong audience while touring up and down the coast from Santa Cruz to Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. Original lineup was Owen Masterson, vocals + guitar; Lars Mitchell, bass + vocals; Sandy Jack Reiner, drums + vocals; and Jerry Heft, guitar + vocals. They recorded a number of demos at Wally Heiders in San Francisco with Danny Holloway producing. Jack Johnson replaced Jerry before recording at the Automatt in SF with David Kahne. Lars left the band and was replaced by Dominic Dimaggio. No records were ever released. Masterson and Johnson went on to form YANKS. All images by Michael Jang.
