From Pop to Jazz and Broadway to Classical, Coloratura Soprano Bonnie Bowden began singing at the age of 3 and performed throughout her Texas youth in musicals, jazz, pop groups and choirs. In 1969 she was offered her first professional singing job as a soloist for a choreographed musical revue in the Crazy Horse Saloon at Six Flags Over Texas. Moving to California, she landed a solo position at Disneyland with the Top 40 Rock Band in Tomorrowland. In 1972 she received a call from Brazilian bandleader Sérgio Mendes who was looking for a new singer. She began touring the world and recorded multiple albums with Brasil 77 and Brasil 88. In addition to Sérgio Mendes, Bonnie has worked with a variety of notables. Among them are her husband guitarist David Amaro, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stevie Wonder, Dave Grusin, George Duke, Dori Caymmi, Hubert Laws, Steve Allen, Paul Smith, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme. She sings in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Latin and Portuguese.
