Frontman, singer-songwriter, and world-renowned upright bassist, Scott Mulvahill is leaving a distinct mark on the intersecting worlds of Americana, folk, jazz, and experimental music. Raised in Houston, he spent five years touring internationally with Ricky Skaggs’ Grammy-winning band, Kentucky Thunder, where his upright bass provided the rhythmic foundation of their celebrated sound. At the same time, he was developing his own musical voice—one shaped by the sophisticated pop of Paul Simon, the introspective folk of James Taylor, and the boundary-pushing jazz of Jaco Pastorius. That evolution came to life on his 2018 solo debut Himalayas, a genre-defying album that launched his transition from standout sideman to magnetic frontman. Since then, Mulvahill has performed hundreds of shows worldwide, appeared on NPR’s Tiny Desk and Mountain Stage, and collaborated with a range of acclaimed artists including Cory Wong, Cody Fry, Lauren Daigle, Keb’ Mo’, Oliver Hazard, and Ben Rector.
