Mike hails from the famed Sliabh Luachra area of North Kerry in Ireland. A place steeped in folklore, music, magic and song. A place renowned for its wonderful musicians and Sean-nós (Irish for "old style", a highly ornamental form of unaccompanied traditional singing) singers. Mike started at a very young age as an accordion player and Sean-nós singer, often singing in his native tongue, Irish. As a young man, he sang in a number of contemporary rock groups in Ireland and Britain but he never lost sight of his Celtic roots and traditions. Mike worked in Radio and as a D.J. for many years also before crossing the Atlantic to settle in Maine to indulge his other great passion in life, rugby. Now, a Mainer (albeit ‘from away’) the lure and call of his native land has Mike once more singing the songs of his life and his home.
