Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, John Rotola, also known as J Bach started his music career at the age of 9 when he began studying the piano. He progressed into a number of other instruments at a young age including the guitar and trumpet. His emphasis shifted to the voice in high school where he enjoyed singing a variety of genres. His love of music led him to a bachelor's degree in music at Colorado State University.
​During college, John began creating hip hop and pop music in his dorm room. Formal music theory training allowed him to produce a higher level of music. After college John met Adelio Lombardi, owner of Side 3 Studios in Denver. Soon after, he interned with DJ Frank E where he learned a great deal about music production.
