Marvin, whose name is inspired by the paranoid android in Douglas Adams’ novel “The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy”, is a project created by Donato Masci and Nicola Torpei after many years of artistic collaboration. Christopher Martinuzzi, English mother tongue singer and lyrics writer, joined Marvin soon after.
Marvin’s electronic music is based upon the acoustic sounds of the musical instruments, the soundscapes created are then combined with traditional song-writing.
The process of creation and composition of Fast thoughts turn to slow reflects each single component’s personal and professional experiences. For this reason the album has an unusual appearance engaging the user at different levels, not only at a musical one. This emerges from the lyrics that are based more upon images and colours than experiences and descriptions. These can help the user to re-enact past experiences or even imagine new ones.
