Specializing in country music with a vintage Americana feel, Kurtis James came onto the local music scene in early 2019. A native of central Minnesota, Kurtis comes to Illinois after a stint in the US Navy saw him reside variously in Florida, Virginia, and California. Influenced by the great country and rockabilly acts of the mid-twentieth century, Kurtis' songwriting is down-to-earth country, with grit, emotion and relatability. Kurtis has remained extremely active during the pandemic, releasing four singles over the past few months, and performing live wherever possible over the summer. Kurtis has pulled together some serious talent with Pete Steele (drums), Cris Velez (bass), and Rich Becker (pedal steel) for the Kurtis James Band. Produced by Thirdfire Records’ Joan Velez, Kurtis James' self-titled debut album was released in July 2021
