In his final prayer before is crucifixion, Jesus prays that all who believe in hi would be one. Not similar goals, not some common ideals, not disparate ministries working for a common good; he begs the Father "that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." (John 17:21) An intertwining Christian believers so deep, it mirrors the perfect relationship of the Trinity.
To Jesus, this is crucial: he prays "...that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (John 17:23) Christ is made known through the unity of believers. Today, we've lost our unity. Denominations, independent churches, ministries for just one subculture, and the list goes on. As a result, we've lost our ability to make Christ known.
