When I was a kid I started making animated films with my Dad's Super 8 camera. Film led to B&W reel to reel video. The advantage being immediate results without developing of film. Also the advantage of sound. Then the VHS portapack. The advantage of 2 hours of shooting time in colour and if you get another payer and some wires you get deck to deck editing! Then standard 8/hi8. The advantage of having no portapack! and hi quality picture! Then digital 8! No video dropouts! Very clear! Computer editing! Now I find myself with a crazy thing called HD and widescreen. The wonders of technology.
