Shocked’s debut, The Texas Campfire Tapes, was a bootleg recorded on a Sony Walkman. She signed with Mercury in 1987. A studio debut, Short Sharp Shocked (1988), Captain Swing (1989) and Arkansas Traveler (1992) completed her Mercury Trilogy. Quality of Mercy (1995), on the Dead Man Walking soundtrack, and Kind Hearted Woman (1996) followed.
