Welcome to my YouTube Channel! I'm a church music professional based just outside of Chicago, Illinois. I teach classes in Gospel music as an assistant professor of instruction in the department of Performance Studies at Northwestern University, Evanston. I'm originally from the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, but prior to Chicago, I taught music at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio for 10 years. I'm a BMI-affiliated composer & arranger, choral workshop clinician & instrumentalist with 44 years of church music experience. I'm a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tar Heels), where I studied music composition & theory. I also transcribe and arrange music for the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and through my publishing, Kent R. Brooks Music (BMI).
