Composer and trumpet player Gerald Bailey currently leads several groups that combine acoustic instruments, jazz and music technology. His recent original work is currently featured on Potions Records, Press Pot Recordings, Cartilage Osseux Records and Tape of the Month Club.
As an educator, he teaches master classes and clinics throughout the Midwest and teaches privately in the Chicago area.
Gerald has performed with Belle and Sebastian, Ty Segall, Mono, Father John Misty, Syl Johnson, and The O’Jays. As a member of Black Bear Combo, Gerald played for the Obama administration at the White House in 2009 and 2012. In 2009, he appeared in the Hollywood movie Public Enemies.
He holds a Bachelors degree in trumpet from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters in composition from DePaul University.
Gerald plays Adams Brass trumpets.
