Pandit Shankar Ghosh (1935-2016) is one of the most iconic names in the world of Indian Classical Music. He is considered to be one of the main contributors to the evolution of the subject of the Tabla . During his 10 years' stay at Ali Akbar College of Music, California, he not only spread Indian music abroad but also collaborated with western classicals & fusion giants and created immense impact worldwide. He is the pioneer of all-drum orchestra that was staged at the closing ceremony of Asiad'82. Anaddha (Part-1 and 2), Tihai er Sutra, originally published in Bangla and now translated into English are his three books which contain a plethora of information ranging from compositions to calculations for Tihais. The books bear testimony to the genius of one of the greatest masters of the Tabla .
