Save our Siesta Sand 2, or SOSS2, Inc., is a Florida not for profit formed to stop the city of Sarasota and the US Army Corps of Engineers from threatening the stable ecosystem of Big Pass and Siesta Key by dredging sand from Big Pass to fill out unnatural beaches and private properties elsewhere.
Siesta Key is a barrier island located on the west coast of Florida in Sarasota that is protected and nourished by Big Pass, one of the last untouched and open natural inlets left in Florida. Siesta Key was named #1 beach in 2011 by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, aka Dr. Beach, and #3 beach by Tripadvisor this year.
