The oxymoron and moniker, Melodic Cacophony, aptly describes this musical collective. Melodic, pleasant sounding rhythmical tones producing distinct musical phrases, contrasted with cacophonous, harsh and raucous elements expresses the idea of the organization. From lyrical arrangements that speak to the struggles of a utopian society, to the real life endeavors of those in a competitive environment, Melodic Cacophony exemplifies a new era in music. Georgia has been an epicenter for unconventional rap music since the 80’s, and this nonconforming attitude has guided this group from the beginning. Born at the inception of Hip Hop, the influences of other Augusta natives such as James Brown and Pastor Troy can be heard in their eclectic musical offerings. Having been a part of the local music scene for the past few decades and performing with groups whose musical genres vary from conscious Hip Hop and trap to Indie Rock, Melodic Cacophony has endeared themselves amongst their peers.
