Shivi (Shivali Malhotra) is a singer/song-writer who was born and raised in Delhi NCR, India (currently based in London). She grew up listening to Classic Rock, Jazz, Pop, Blues, old Hindi Music, and Sufi, all because of her father’s eclectic tastes and massive CD collection.
Her writing is influenced by soulful imagery, with a touch of nostalgia. She enjoys incorporating elements of synth-pop in her music, and alternates it with raw and acoustic pieces with soaring melodies.
She trained under Mr Yeashu Yuvraj at the Gurgaon School of Music for two years, and attained a Rockschool Grade 8 Performance Diploma in Vocals, with distinction under his tutelage. She is also training with Khushhaal Khan ji and Ghulam Husain ji in the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music. Her biggest musical influences are Led Zeppelin, Tame Impala, A R Rahman, Fleetwood Mac, Mehdi Hassan Saab, Asha Bhosle ji, Reshma ji, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and Prince.
