Harry Ellis, bandleader and percussionist, attended "Sounds of Joy" music school in Manhattan, New York. He later studied percussion with "El Nino" Pablo Rosario, percussion guru, who worked with Mongo Santamaria. Harry also studied voice with Bill Fleck, bass vocalist for the New York Metropolitan Opera. Harry Ellis worked in many clubs of hard knocks alongside The Chamber Brothers, Art Blakey, Art Blakey Jr., Fred Smith, and Kenyatta.
Harry has worked with pillars in jazz, including: David Liberman, Link Chamberlain, Frank Foster, and Robin Kenyatta. In addition, he has collaborated compositions with Gaye Mehegan (wife of pianist guru John Mehegan).
