Jambey started because we all loved instruments that most bands just don't touch, like handpan, didgeridoo, flute, jembe, xylophone, delayed guitar.
There's no laptop running loops behind us, no backing tracks giving us a safety net. It's just us, listening to each other. That's what makes it exciting, and honestly, a little terrifying sometimes.
We don't really belong to one tradition. You'll hear something that feels Middle Eastern, then a rhythm that's pure West African, then this open, floating thing that doesn't have a name. We move through it naturally, and we never want to get too comfortable in any one place.
