Matt formed his band, the Next Door Boys, in January of 2017 and has been gigging since, playing classic and southern rock covers. He is continuing his formal lessons along with the band's practice sessions that take place weekly in his home studio. He is accelerating his training through additional formal lessons at local drum clinics with drum legends like Rich Redmond of Jason Aldean, Troy Luccketta of Tesla and Todd Sucherman of Styx. Greg Upchurch, the drummer from 3 Doors Down, is his weekly drum instructor. In December of 2018, Matthew auditioned for and was selected to be the drummer for the Tones, a seven-piece band sponsored by Cedarstone School of Music, playing mostly pop and rock classic along with original music. In addition to his drumming, Matthew has begun learning music production using FL Studio. He is an avid tech user and is working on developing his Python programming skills while advancing his music career.
