There’s an exciting new artist coming out of Toronto’s boroughs. Born in Manhattan and raised in Toronto’s suburb of Scarborough, Boyscoutsam takes pride in creating music that reflects his life experiences. A single mother fled Jamaica to have her son in the United States only to be met with a series of unfortunate circumstances. Being placed in the foster care system in Canada at a young age, Boyscoutsam’s soul-searching lyrics reflect the resilience required to survive the gritty environment. Intentionally avoidant of being restricted to one sound, Boyscoutsam has made a name for himself with sounds ranging from melodic hip-hop to emo-trap. There’s no telling what you may hear from this emerging artist.
