Anthony Markwell is the resident Dhamma teacher and vipassana meditation instructor at Indriya Retreat, Koh Phangan, Thailand. He ordained as a Buddhist monk in 1995 and was extensively trained and supervised in satipatthana vipassana for ten years in the meditation monastries of Thailand and Myanmar. His main teachers include Luang Por Bhavanakitti, Sayadaw U Pandita and Luang Por Wat Pitsoparam. Anthony has also studied Buddhist texts and Pali language for over 20 years.
In 2013 Anthony began teaching the spiritual seekers and travellers to Koh Phangan by guiding thousands of meditators through silent 7-day and 21-day vipassana retreats. He is currently establishing Indriya Retreat by building a new Dhamma and Meditation Hall to provide a
training centre for the long-term study and practice of the Buddha’s Teaching. Indriya Retreat will run donation based monthly Vipassana (mindfulness meditation) and Mettakaruna (loving-kindness) retreats from January 2019.
