Cocomama is a NY–based multinational, all-female ensemble blending Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms, salsa, & soul into a dynamic global sound. Formed in 2005, the group has built a two-decade career rooted in collaborative creation & cross-cultural exchange, performing at venues including the United Nations, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Birdland, & the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Their debut album Quiero earned 2016 Grammy pre-nomination recognition, while the self-produced Woman’s World (2021) highlighted the ensemble’s commitment to collective voice & artistic independence. Known for performances that move seamlessly between rhythmic intensity & lyrical depth, Cocomama continues to expand the language of Latin jazz through genre-fluid composition & diverse musical influences.
Their newest project, Evolución (2026), supported by Chamber Music America, celebrates the group’s 20th anniversary with collaborative songwriting & a renewed focus on innovation & community connection.
