AfroPulse — The Pulse That Never Sleeps
Real name: Kweku Amadu
Born: Accra, Ghana
Childhood & youth: split between Lagos and Johannesburg — an eternal migrant between West and Southern Africa
Year of birth: roughly 1995 (“Time isn’t measured in years, but in pulse”)
The Legend: “The Pulse That Never Sleeps”
Kweku grew up amid the shouting traders of Accra’s markets, where old cassettes blasted highlife and Fela Kuti by day, and deep bass rose from underground sound systems by night. His mother was a griot — a storyteller accompanied by the xylophone. His father vanished when Kweku was 7, leaving behind only a battered box of vinyl: Miriam Makeba, rare South African kwaito bootlegs, and early deep house.
