Tom Grosset is an artist, composer, and educator who gained international recognition after competing at a Guinness World Record event in which he set a record-breaking single stroke roll of 1,208 single strokes in 60 seconds. On July 13th, 2013, he was given the title of the World’s Fastest Drummer after breaking the previous record, 1,203 single strokes in 60 seconds, set in 2005 by Mike Mangini. Grosset also became the second person ever to surpass the 1,200 mark using single strokes. Immediately after breaking the record, legendary session drummer, Bernard Purdie, went up to Grosset and personally congratulated him.
The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, TIME Magazine, and many other news outlets covered the story, and several corporations, including Google, SONY, and The Discovery Channel, collaborated with Grosset in the years following.
