Our mission: to provide support and advocacy for respect, understanding and nondiscrimination to LGBTQ+ people and their families in Southwest Michigan. Our History: Founded in 2003 by local community members, the OutCenter began as a YWCA program to serve the LGBT community. In 2007 the OutCenter moved to its current home in Benton Harbor and, in 2010, the OutCenter received it’s 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit designation. In 2020 this one-of-a-kind organization in Southwest Michigan, continues as an independent organization serving Berrien, Van Buren and Cass Counties, led by a professional staff, and governed by a Board of dedicated community members.
